All of our optometrists are licensed Therapeutic Optometrists, and most are also licensed as Optometric Glaucoma Specialists.
Catherine K. Kennedy, O.D.
Dr. Catherine Kennedy has been board certified by The American Board of Optometry. She received her Optometric Degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry, after earning her Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas. Her undergraduate education also included a year on the Munich, Germany campus of the University of Maryland. Before moving to Austin in 1988, Dr. Kennedy was affiliated with MacGregor Medical Association of Houston. She is licensed as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist and as a Therapeutic Optometrist. Her areas of interest include specialty contact lenses and ocular pathology caused by systemic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Dr Kennedy enjoys seeing patients of all ages. She has a special place in her heart for special needs children and has specialty training in the prescribing of ChromaGen glasses and contact lenses. This can have a positive effect on dyslexia and color blindness in both children and adults. Dr. Kennedy is married to a native Texan, David. They have two children, Matthew and Caitlin. In their spare time, they enjoy sailing on Lake Travis.
Patrick R. Serafine, O.D., F.A.B.C.O., NBEO-BC Board Certified
Dr. Patrick Serafine is board certified by the American Board of Clinical Optometry and the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He is a 1980 Honors Graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry, and a native Texan, born in San Antonio. Before moving to Austin in 1994, he practiced in San Antonio in a variety of settings, including ophthalmological practices, and a military optometry clinic. He is a third generation optometrist, and his special interests include contact lenses for astigmatism, laser refractive surgery, and ocular pathology. Dr. Serafine is licensed as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist and as a Therapeutic Optometrist. Before optometry college, Dr. Serafine majored in Biology, with emphasis in Microbiology and Biochemistry, and attended classes at Trinity University and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is married to Lil, who is the Executive Director for the Austin Steam Train Association. They have three children, Katherine, Laura, and Tony. Pamela A. Evans, O.D.
Dr. Evans is a certified therapeutic optometrist who provides medical exams and management for patients, along with routine vision care. As well, she is certified in glaucoma management and has a special interest in contact lens fitting, including colored contact lenses and astigmatism correcting contact lenses.
Dr. Evans has practiced optometry since 1989 and has lived in Georgetown since 1994. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, in 1985. She attended the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1985. She completed her optometry externship at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. She is certified by the Texas Board of Optometry in both therapeutics and glaucoma.
Carolyn J. Kerr, O.D.
Dr. Carolyn Kerr earned her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry. After graduation, she practiced with a large group in Dallas. Like many Texas Exes, she soon found her way back to Austin. Dr. Kerr is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and began practicing at Arboretum Vision Care in 2008. She strives to make each patient feel comfortable, giving them her full attention and providing thorough explanations whether they are a complicated contact lens patient or a child having their first exam. Dr Kerr, her husband, Jim, and daughter, Christina, enjoy traveling whenever possible.
